because he was soooooo good as a player I'd probably back him if he stuck Doc in midfield for the season to make room for Hucks at centre-back.

For those of you too young to remember him playing, the Hucks reference is a good one: but that'd be Hucks playing in one of the world's top international teams and still skinning everyone in sight - or vanishing from games for a bit and *then* skinning everyone in sight and scoring from the edge of the box, or with an overhead kick or summat.

Back then we were still sort of media-encouraged to hate the Jarmans, much more than is the case now with the odd Sun headline. Truth be told, there were a fair few Doytshy players who deserved it, too. Well I can't speak for anyone else but me, I couldn't hate Littbarski. The Bonhofs, Hansi (and Gerd before him) Mullers, all the others, yes, they were t**ts who efficiently and ruthlessly bored you to tears and ground out results by dishonest use of things like being better than everyone else and so on.

That was why it was so unfair that this excellent, disciplined and highly effective squad ALSO had f**king Pierre weaving around all over the place. That'd be like Kate Beckinsale being able to strap on Kelly Brook's tits whenever she needed them.

Grossly unfair but you had to applaud.
