John Pantsil - Source MLS

Today's Jewish Chronicle (not the most well-known football oracle) carries a back-page story that City are interested in Ghana international defender John Pantsil. Pantsil was admonished by the Ghanaian FA for waving an Israeli flag when he scored against the Czech Republic. (Apparently, it caused a storm of protest in the Arab world). He's 25, plays for Hapoel Tel-Aviv and (according to no less an authority than his missus!) loves Israel - he'd promised the Hapoel fans he'd wave the Israeli flag if he scored. Previously, he was with Maccabi Tel-Aviv, where he did well when they reached the group stage of the Champions League in 2002. He's available for a small fee, as his contract expires in a year and he won't renew. We're apparently bidding against Hamburg, Rennes and Anderlecht so I'm less optimistic than the Jewish Chronicle is that he'll choose Carrow Road!
