Heard a Middlesbrough supporter on 5 Live this morning...
talking about the wealth of talent nurtured by his club's academy.
Andrew Davies, Lee Cattermole, Stewart Downing, James Morrison, Stuart Parnaby, Anthony McMahon, Adam Johnson, Jason Kennedy, Andrew Taylor and Matthew Bates. All talented local lads who've broken through to the first team, play their hearts out and wear their shirts with pride.
It helps to have a manager who's not afraid to blood his youngsters and give them experience of the Prem and Europe. Youth academies can be made to work at the highest level. Why, with so much resource ploughed into Colney do we not see even a modicumk of return on investment?
Very very worrying.
